There are a  number of Buckleys around Ballylanders. One of these is the shop at the top of Main Street owned by Mike Buckley. Perhaps this would be a good place to start your enquiry.

Just checking through internet. My father, Arthur J. Buckley was born
in Dublin, 1890. His father, William Buckley, Esq. was born in Limerick. Through a genealogical search (Dublin Castle) discovered we had ancestors in Ballylanders, but I know no more than that. Are there Buckley family (O,Buachalla) members living in Ballylanders now? John Buckley, Camano Island, Washington State, USA.

My paternal great-grandfather, Thomas Woods emigrated from Co. Limerick to Chicago circa 1890. My father last visited Ireland in either 1994 or 1995 (or maybe '96 or '97, one of the four) and said much of the family is from Ballylanders. Anyone know any Woods over yonder? Happy St. Pat's 2013!

I'm trying to trace my husband's ancestors. His grandmother was from Ballylanders but would have left for England in about 1900. Her name was Catherine (or perhaps Katherine) Dawson. She was born somewhere between 1879 and 1881 we think. She eventually married an Arthur Brown in 1906 and lived until 1953. She and Arthur lived in the Poplar/ Bow area of East London when first married.
Catherine may have had a relative, possibly a sister, called Mary. We'd really appreciate any help and would love to visit Ballylanders too as the family have remained very proud of their Irish roots.

We visited Ballylanders back in early 2000. We stayed at a beautiful home that we rented which was on the main street and we were actually the first to rent it. I am wondering if anyone knows the name and if it is available any longer, We are coming back in April and will need tp find something. Thank you

I believe my Great Grandparents (William Barry and Norie McGrath) were married in Ballylanders in 1864. By 1870 they emigrated to the area around Kingston, New York. USA. Apparently my Great Grandmother had great homesickness and returned to Ireland with her 3 children, Patrick, William and Ellen. By 1880 my grandfather returned to America and was living in Rhinecliffe NY with his father and other relatives. Is the Barry or McGrath families prevalent in Ballylanders? It appears the church they were married in was razed shortly after they were married. It was in the Cashel and Emly Diocese. Knowing whether the families were likely from there would narrow down some of my genealogy, specifically the year they would have come over and whether or not my Grandfather Patrick was born in Ireland or New York. Also it would be nice to dig deeper into the past and see more of the history of my family. Thank you for any help you can give!
